Baker welcomes live audience for 91st Annual Christmas Candlelight Vespers

Baker University’s Annual Christmas Candlelight Vespers returns for the 91st edition on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. in Rice Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public; masks are required.
This year’s music will feature themes such as traditional Christmas worship, Christmas nostalgia, King Kong, and more.
After last year’s virtual performance, Dr. Ryan Olsen, director of choral activities, is excited to perform in front of a live audience again.
“We’re thrilled to be presenting Vespers in person again this year. It was fun showcasing different parts of our campus last year in our virtual Vespers, but it wasn’t nearly the same, especially since we recorded it in October,” Olsen said.
Baker University choirs and orchestra will alternate sets and will include guest artists from across campus.
“I’m excited to be welcoming guests from the Baker faculty, staff, and student body in this year’s performance. I’m grateful for our colleagues and students to take time during this busy season to sing with us at the 91st Annual Christmas Candlelight Vespers concert this year. I look forward to welcoming audience members in person and livestreamed if they are unable to travel to Baldwin City,” Olsen said.
Both performances may be viewed online via Zoom.
