Baker community comes together to raise funds for Day of Giving

Baker University’s annual Day of Giving, held on April 18, raised $113,075 through online donations from Baker alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends. Donors were able to designate their gifts to academics, President’s Vision Fund, School of Nursing, athletics, fraternity and sorority life, or graduate studies.

“Day of Giving is an annual reminder of the deep connections within our community,” said President Lynne Murray. “Each year I am grateful for the way the Baker family comes together to support our mission and vision by supporting our academic programs and all the initiatives that create an exceptional student experience.”

This year’s event raised the second-highest amount and increased the number of donors by 73. Matching gift opportunities were provided by Bob Irby, ’64, and Don, ’70, and Dona (Shaw), ’70, Johnson.

“Our theme for this Day of Giving was connections, and the Baker community proved those connections are real,” said Nate Houser, ’94, associate vice president of advancement. “Engaged and motivated, our alumni, friends, and family continue to have a real impact on the Baker University student experience.”

Since its inception in 2017, Day of Giving has raised well over $500,000 for university needs through the gifts of 1,260 donors.
