New Student Checklist

Now that you have chosen Baker, you probably have lots of questions! This checklist will help you get ready to start your Baker journey.

All new Baker University students are required to complete the following checklist items before their first semester. You can check your progress on these items in the Admissions Hub.

1. Deposit

Submitting your enrollment deposit is your first step to establishing your new home at Baker. This is required before you can register for orientation or submit your housing application.

2. Register for Orientation

This is where you will get your first-semester schedule, learn the basics of campus, and more! Attendance is required for all new students. Parents and family are welcome to attend.

Registration for fall orientation opens on February 1.

 

3. Housing application or RRE

All full-time Baker University students on the Baldwin City campus are required to live in university-sponsored housing. The application provides us with information to make the best housing assignment for all involved.

Students who meet certain criteria may request to be considered for an exemption to the residency requirement.

4. Submit Immunization Records

Baker University requires students to submit a copy of their updated immunization records. This can be a personal immunization record signed by a health care provider or a physician, a clinic report stating all immunization records, or a copy of school immunization records. The following are required: MMR, Tdap, and meningitis.

5. Submit Final Transcripts

So that we can build the best schedule possible for your first semester, have your school send us all final transcripts. This includes college transcripts for dual-credit and transfer coursework completed at a two-year or four-year institution.

If your high school and/or college uses a third-party transcript service like Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse, please have an official digital PDF copy sent to our Office of the Registrar at incoming.transcripts@bakerU.edu. Note: We do not accept digital transcripts emailed by the school itself as official.

6. Set Up Password

Information technology staff will send you your default password before your first day of class. Change your password to something unique through Access Baker.

7. Submit Photo for Student ID

Submit a clear and recent color photo taken on a plain white background to be used on your student ID card.

8. Student Financial Responsibilities Agreement

The SFRA outlines the financial obligations and responsibilities associated with enrolling in classes at Baker University and the potential consequences of failing to meet those obligations. This agreement must be submitted before the first day of classes.

9. Accept/Decline Financial Aid Offer

Watch the mail for your financial aid offer. Sign and return the accept/decline financial aid document. Your acceptance is necessary to receive the loans you’re eligible for.

 

10. Get a Parking Permit

All students must submit the Parking Permit form to either register your car to receive a parking pass at move in or to waive this requirement if you will not have a car on campus.

11. Verify Medical Insurance

Baker University requires all students to carry medical insurance. You must submit a waiver request to verify coverage, or you will be required to purchase student insurance coverage. Students will be notified by email when they have been enrolled in the system to be able to submit the waiver.

 

12. Submit Athletic Paperwork (Student-Athletes Only)

Student-athletes in all sports must have a physical examination along with all forms requested in the Vivature portal before being able to participate in athletic activities.
